Each and every single day, there's scammers on the run trying to take your money, and dangerous content on the internet.
Blastcast for Education is working with local schools in the Portsmouth area to teach people about online safety. We also have the facilities to do longer evening classes for people like elderly people, who don't understand technology as well and could be at risk of falling victim to scams.
We want to make sure that everyone around us is able to stay safe online and knows how to spot scams before it's too late.
Our Blastcast for Education package is tailored for the age group that we are delivering it to, so we can make sure that they can understand and can engage well with it.
If you're a local school in the Portsmouth area - you may have had an email from us about an assembly teaching your students about online safety. We're more than happy to come into an assembly and deliver a session about online safety to your students.
If you would like to speak with us about this, you can reach us on bookings@blastcast.co.uk - we don't charge for introductory sessions under 40 minutes.
The sessions are led by Maddie, the Group CEO of Blastcast.
If you book in with us, you'll be able to see the actual presentation before we show it off to your students, however - this is the layout that you can expect to see from the session:
Scam or genuine - are these texts legitimate?
Questions about how much people use social media and how often they see fake promotions.
How to spot fake promotions and how to report them.
Focusing on an online shopping app - and how they can be dangerous to use and their risks.
Teaching the students that what is on the internet stays on the internet forever, and explaining some ways people can see your information and how to use privacy filters on their social media accounts.
The session will last about 20 minutes, and I will do a short and brief introduction at the start, so the students know who I am.
Blastcast for Education staff and volunteers are NOT DBS checked and will require supervision from someone who is DBS checked. DBS checks are available on request, if required for the role.
